About "Oak Wood"
Drab Majesty returns with the somber and reflective new single, simply titled Oak Wood. As Deb Demure reveals, "Oak Wood was received a few weeks following the Ghostship tragedy in Oakland. The DAIS family lost one of its most beloved members, Cash Askew, and the song title is a literal Old Norse translation of her last name. Finding the name to be symbolically poignant, in light of the events, we wanted to pay tribute to Cash's memory and spirit. Lyrically, the song grapples with the existence of a god in a time of such utter sadness and confusion."
Coupled with the instrumental “Egress", Drab Majesty means to create a faint departure or daydream; spaces that one often find themselves drifting into as a means of escape when disturbing thoughts cyclically plague their mind. Created as an act of meditation, if only for a brief moment, "Egress" allows one to wander and lose themselves within the song's sonic imagery.
Oak Wood comes housed in a matte foil embossed jacket with spot gloss photography by Nedda Asfari.
